A download manager for PC

Motrix is a free and open-source download manager for PC devices developed by agalwood. This internet tool supports various types of download sources and features cross-platform compatibility, letting it work across all major desktop operating systems seamlessly. It also works as an accelerator that can help increase your transfer speeds.

Much like the highly popular Internet Download Manager, Motrix provides users with more control over their downloads, including the option to set speed limitsschedules, and how many concurrent downloads can run at any given timeall of these things, plus an easy drag-and-drop operation, make for a user-friendly experience overall.

How do I use Motrix?

Motrix is a fully-featured download manager that lets you download files from the internet, as well as being a torrent client for file-sharing purposes. It supports file sources coming from HTTP links and FTP servers. For peer-to-peer transfers over Bittorrent, it can open both .torrent and .magnet files. You can simply drag and drop them into the program to start downloading them.

The program features a clean and modern user interface that is quite intuitive. Click on the '+' sign on the sidebar to the left to add a specific URL address or torrent file to start a download. You can also change the download directory and rename the file from the same window. It can support up to 10 simultaneous downloads at a time.

There are some issues that need to be addressed, particularly when it comes to torrent downloads, though. If you use .magnet files, it doesn't allow you to choose specific files to download. Another is that it doesn't provide any details about peers and seeds, which, for a torrent client, is a rather important piece of information to have.

A decent download manager

All in all, Motrix is a competent tool to manage your downloads from the internet. It is simple and easy to use, it sports a modern UI design, and has enough features for most users. If you do a lot of torrent downloading, though, you will find it to be lacking in some essential functions, and there are better options for you out there.

Softonic

In Softonic we scan all the files hosted on our platform to assess and avoid any potential harm for your device. Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.

We’d like to highlight that from time to time, we may miss a potentially malicious software program. To continue promising you a malware-free catalog of programs and apps, our team has integrated a Report Software feature in every catalog page that loops your feedback back to us.

Flag any particular issues you may encounter and Softonic will address those concerns as soon as possible.
